Through a series of Historical labs, the Réseau Art Nouveau Network hopes to create an exchange platform of knowledge at a European scale. The content of Historical Labs gathers research, experience and know-how so that the programme has interest for the general public and professionals alike. The third Historical Lab of the Art Nouveau & Ecology project will take place in Milan on 19 November and will explore the following topic: “Nature, Creativity and Production in Art Nouveau”.
This theme covers creativity, analysis of the manufacturing process and production as well as the constant contact with nature as an example or inspiration. This theme can also study the teaching, the learning and the establishment of new types of workshops and factories. The following proposals are only examples and we invite you to find other suggestions on the theme:
- new workshops and innovative productions
- artistic cooperatives
- workshops and cooperatives represented at regional or international exhibitions
- the adaptation of industrial production to new technologies, matching the new aesthetics
- electric innovation and new type of lighting
- place of nature in the inspirations of creator
Your proposals for contribution, in French or English, should be written in the form of an abstract, of a maximum length of 400 words per proposal, with a title, your full contact details (surname, name, institution and email address), as well as some biographic and bibliographic elements. The deadline for the call for papers is set on 30 September 2011 and the papers should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The selection committee, composed of partners from Regione Lombardia, Ljubljana and Brussels will select in early October the 10 lectures that will be given. The participants will receive a notification of their participation to the lab on 10 October 2011 at the latest. Each lecture will last between 20 and 30 minutes. The full text of the lecture should be submitted by 31 October 2011. The selected lecturers will be invited with all the partners of the network to take part in the Art Nouveau visit day organised by the Regione Lombardia on Sunday, November 20th 2011 (one day or a half-day depending on the programme of the lab).
The lectures will be given in French, English or Italian. A simultaneous translation (French, English and Italian) will be available.
