Plastics Subject Specialist Network (SSN) meeting

The Plastics SSN is a network to engage varied audiences with the key role played by plastics in modern society, to increase interconnectivity and brokerage between plastics collections and to share expertise in the history, development, care and interpretation of plastics, within and beyond the museum community, in order to reduce duplication of effort and maximise audience benefits from plastics in museum collections in the UK.

11.05 – 11.40   Introduction to Plastics Materials – Steve Akhurst                

11.40 – 12.15   Buckets, jewels and almost everything in-between –  Plastics and Design Mark Suggitt                 –    

12.15 – 12.50   The Popart Project – the first structured investigation into the conservation of plastics –  Brenda Keneghan

13.40 -14.30   Artefact workshop – Lead by Sylvia Katz and Colin Williamson

14.30 -15.20   Future of SSN – Break out sessions and feedback

15.30 End of Meeting
